TO START, WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?
I was born and raised in North Haven, CT where I currently live now with my dog, Stella.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE FINANCE INDUSTRY? WHAT ARE SOME PREVIOUS ROLES YOU HELD THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER?
Out of grad school I began working for a start up company that owned the license on technology to add flavor to plastic (think everlasting gobstopper from Willy Wonka!). We applied that technology to flavored mouthguards for sports and grew the firm from $0 in revenue to over $10MM in 2 years. It was a lot of fun and I learned a ton, but unfortunately after a few years the big sports brands were onto us and the competition locked us out of the big box retailers. I knew working there long term was not sustainable so one night I sat down with BWC’s president, John-Oliver Beirne, and had a discussion with him about all that I learned from a business development and marketing standpoint. Two weeks later I had a job at BWC and the rest is history!
WHEN YOU AREN’T WORKING, WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
Playing sports my entire life, I’ve always been really active. Unfortunately, I’ve had to retire from baseball and football so now I’m an avid golfer and play in a recreational softball league. I also love to try new things, whether it’s going to a new restaurant or traveling to somewhere I have never been before.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE THAT ANYONE EVER GAVE YOU WHEN IT COMES TO BUSINESS?
Two weeks into working at BWC, I took a Stamford business school class with John Beirne that focused on how to tell your story and how to build relationships. John taught me early on that we work in a relationship business. This really resonated with me. You have to earn people’s trust, be genuine and always do the right thing for the client.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE FOR YOU AT WORK?
It all depends on the day. One day could involve putting together a proposal for a prospective client, another could be spent meeting with 401k participants, and the next could be spent adding content to our website, editing videos and sending out an eNewsletter for our clients. Often times I am outside of the office at client or prospect meetings. I don’t work the standard 9 – 5 either, after regular office hours you can find me at networking events, attending a board meeting or other charitable cause. Currently I volunteer on four boards so they keep me really busy outside of work.
WHAT WAS THE BEST CONCERT THAT YOU EVER ATTENDED?
My favorite has to be right before COVID hit and shut the world down. I went to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden and as an added bonus, Bruce Springsteen made a surprise guest appearance and played the entire concert with him.
Another favorite was Guns & Roses at Metlife stadium. It was Slash’s birthday and it felt like every song ended with a 5 minute guitar solo. After 30 years, the band still has it! Axel sounds the same, but boy has he aged.
While we are on the subject of concerts, I also have to mention that I love Broadway shows. I’ve seen Jersey boys three times, twice in New York and once in New Haven. Frankie Valli can really get the crowd going!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TRIP THAT YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN? WHAT DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Tough question, it’s really hard to narrow it down to one. I think one of my most memorable trips was right before COVID when I went to Disney World with two of my best friends, their wives and five kids (with another on the way!). We hit every park and had a blast! There’s something about Disney that makes you feel like a little kid, no matter how old you are. It truly is the most magical place on earth.
In regards to my bucket list, there are lots of places that I still want to travel to. At the top of my list is Europe, specifically Italy and Greece. I also want to experience one of those huts on the water in Fiji. Now that’s paradise!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF FOOD, AND WHAT IS THE BEST MEAL THAT YOU HAVE EVER EATEN?
Nothing beats my mom’s Chicken Parm. Being from New Haven (which was recently declared the pizza capital of the world) I love myself a good old fashioned apizza from Modern. I also have quite the sweet tooth so I have to mention that.
The best meal I ever had was at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale, AZ. The steak was amazing, but the butter cream cake for dessert is to die for. We also sat next to Emmitt Smith from the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. I made sure to thank him for ruining my early childhood as a Giants fan!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY AND WHY?
Hands down, my favorite holiday is Christmas. When I was a kid it was all about the presents, but now that I’m older it’s spending time with loved ones that truly makes this holiday so special.
WHEN ARE YOU HAPPIEST?
I am happiest when I feel a sense of fulfillment. Working with several charities makes you realize that there are lots of people in this world that are less fortunate than I am. Volunteering my time and efforts to improve the quality of life for others is extremely fulfilling and they are extremely appreciative.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY?
I would pay off my house and other outstanding debt, along with the debts of my close friends and family. I would also invest some of the money and set it aside for future Bradanini generations. Whatever is left over I would donate to charity.
WHAT WOULD A PERFECT DAY LOOK LIKE?
A perfect day for me would be spent on a tropical island, eating good food, listening to good music and spending time with all the ones I love.
CAN YOU GIVE ME A QUOTE THAT CAN RELATE YOUR VIEW OF LIFE TO?
“There are two defining moments in every person’s life.
The day you are born, and the day you find out why.”
YOU’RE GIVEN THE ABILITY TO HAVE DINNER WITH ANYBODY IN THE WORLD (REAL, FICTIONAL- DEAD OR ALIVE). WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
This is a tough question. I feel like a lot of people will name a celebrity or hero they had growing up as a kid. For me, it’s my Uncle Louie, who also happened to be my Godfather. We lost Uncle Louie a while back to cancer and not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. He was the coolest guy I know and I always wish I had one more chance to hang out with him. Since this question is a hypothetical, we’re skipping dinner and hitting the golf course. The way I see it, dinner only lasts a few hours and a round of golf can take upwards of 5. And since you play golf with a foursome, I’m inviting along my dad and younger brother, Brett. Two generations of Bradanini brothers back together again, we’ll warn the course ahead of time!
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPERPOWER IN THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
If I could have any superpower, it would be time travel. I have always been a bit of a history buff and it would be really cool to see what it was like to live in different times throughout history and visit with some of my relatives from different generations. Seeing a dinosaur in real life would be pretty wild too.
It would also be quite an adventure to travel to the future and see what new technological advances humankind has made. I could also make our clients a lot of money knowing what the stock market was going to do!
IF YOU COULD BE ANY ANIMAL IN THE WORLD, WHAT ANIMAL WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?
If I could be any animal, it would be a wolf. Wolves are courageous and have no fear. They refuse to back down and always stay true to themselves no matter what. At the same time, they are loyal, protective and caring, always doing what is in the best interest of the pack.
